Another project that gave us not only great satisfaction, but also the awareness that we were doing something good, was a specialised wheelchair for disabled children. Some of you will think that this is not a big deal. There are many similar solutions on the market. Yes, we agree, but most of them do not fit into the boot of a car. This was a huge challenge for us and required a lot of commitment. Once all the details were taken into account, we immediately set to work. The primary goal of the project was to develop a mechanism to fold the wheelchair in such a way as to make the transport of the equipment as comfortable as possible.
Many hours and days of work brought the desired result. In the end, we found an effective and satisfactory solution. The project assumed that the frame of the wheelchair would be made of steel and the footrest of aluminium. What is more, we only considered pipe diameters and wall thicknesses that would make the entire structure both rigid and lightweight. In addition, we used a number of ready-made technologies available on the market, supplied by companies such as: Backer and Elesa Ganter. We also applied AKCES-MED’s own solutions. There is no need to change what is good, only to improve what needs fine-tuning. And this is what we did!
An interesting functionality of the designed equipment is the possibility to adjust the height of the footrest, as well as the angle of the backrest. During the work we carried out, the greatest difficulty was to develop a mechanism for folding the wheelchair. But the most important thing is that we did it! Many hours spent on the project brought us the greatest things, namely good design and customer satisfaction. This is the greatest reward!
